Summary:
The Stradi RE614 tube has an amplification factor of 7.6, which is more than double the amplification factor of 3.5 of the original Telefunken's RE604.
Also, the Stradi RE614 has an enhanced filament structure that lowers the internal resistance for better sound.


The RE614 tube is a low-output receiving tube developed by Telefunken.
Although not a widely known model, several European companies produced similar tubes at the same time such as E408N, LK4110, U4H and P4100 because the electrical characteristics were convenient to use in actual products.

The Stradi RE614 tube has an amplification factor of 7.6, which is more than double the amplification factor of 3.5 of Telefunken's RE604.
If the amplification factor is increased, the internal resistance of the vacuum tube increases, which tends to reduce the output power or sound quality (especially bass).

However, RE614 tube increases the amount of filament heat capacity (RE604: 4V/0.65A, RE614: 4V/1.0A) to get appropriate transconductance to lower internal resistance.

The Stradi RE614 tube has the advantage of simplifying the design of the front stage, so it is good to use it as an audio output tube.
For example, if you use the Stradi RS242 tube with your amplifier, you can end up with only 2 tubes - RS242 and RE614 -.

Also, it is suitable for use as a drive tube due to its high amplification factor.
It is a very good driver tube as output tubes require strong driving power.
